Introducing...

Thai Yoga Stretch

THAI YOGA STRETCH is a ground based, clothed, trauma informed body therapy system. This method is referred to as body therapy for a very intentional purpose: it is founded on and focused on listening to the body, rather than talking to it, and then responding with love and compassion.

TYS blends eastern style acupressure and reflexology with western style athletic and gentle restorative assisted stretching techniques. This treatment is beneficial for everyone because it is tailored to fit the recipient's specific needs.

TYS incorporates elements of compression therapy, acupressure, energy meridian work, and assisted stretching and employs a variety of touch techniques, including the use of hands, elbows, forearms, knees, and even feet to rhythmically move energy, release stagnation and undo stress patterns in the body. These techniques improve blood flow and circulation in the body, which helps optimize recovery and healing. The gentle stretching and assisted yoga help to increase mobility and flexibility. These components in addition to the meditative rhythmic rocking (which has a co-regulatory effect) encourage deep relaxation and have a hugely beneficial effect on calming the nervous system.

This treatment has been referred to as a “nervous system massage”, a “trauma relief massage”, and a “deep healing relaxation retreat”  It is an experience truly unlike any other, inspired by the buddhist principle of metta, “loving kindness,” each and every TYS treatment is guided by compassion and focused on restoring a felt sense of safety in the body.

This is ultimately what enables the nervous system to restore a sense of balance and harmony for the body-mind-heart connection. I offer TYS body therapy in the metropolitan Phoenix, AZ area as well as education and training programs for local and nationwide clientele.

Does this sound familar?

  • Your fascia (the body’s container) is tight - tension in one area communicates to other areas and the body ends up operating in a defensive manner. It takes a lot of energy to defend (just think immune system function when you are fighting a bug). That energy is energy taken away from our life force. So we focus on moving away from what is painful and uncomfortable and that defensive energy steals from our ability to move towards what we seek, long for and desire.

  • Your body feels burdened by stress: You feel tension, restriction, and heaviness.

  • You experience chronic pain in your body

  • You no longer do things or participate in activities that you used to enjoy because you are fearful that you will end up hurt and in pain.

  • Your body feels like it is aging rapidly.

  • You no longer have the energy to do things that you want to do. Everything feels like a struggle (including relaxing).

If you can relate, you are not alone.

That is because your fascia, the connective tissue super matrix of your body is tight and restricted. Tension in one area of the body communicates to other areas of the body and the body ends up operating in a defensive manner. The good news is that this super intelligence of the body can be used to facilitate restoration and relaxation. Learn how with Thai Yoga Stretch Body Therapy!

FAQ

Question: What is the difference between Thai yoga stretch and traditional massage? Answer: Thai Yoga Stretch is a clothed and floor based body therapy practice. Because it is clothed and offered on a futon on the ground, that creates the space for many different movements and manipulations (things that are not accessible when someone is not clothed and on a table). It is a trauma sensitive and informed practice meaning it is client centered, collaborative and dedicated to helping restore a felt sense of safety in the body of each and every recipient.

Question: What do I need to know beforehand? Answer: Wear loose comfy clothing and avoid eating anything too heavy for 2 hours prior to treatment. Also, please feel free to let your therapist know about anything that you might want to focus your session on-physical pain, emotional healing, mental clarity, and spiritual connection are all accessible through this work.
